What we love?

Myanmar champions diversity, which we love. It is home to over 135 distinct ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture, language and traditions. Though there are historical tensions, there is such potential for unity amidst its diversity. Numerous festivals are celebrated in Myanmar throughout the year where people can come together as one.

What are the challenges?

Myanmar is a country that has been scarred by one of the world's longest running civil wars. Over a million children are born each year; many of whom will not reach their first birthday. Furthermore, 43,000 will be orphaned to HIV/AIDS. Many children are displaced from their families, and are at risk of poverty, illness, exploitation, child labour and trafficking.

What are our partners doing?

CRY partners with an aid Project, that works to support Myanmar refugees. Since 2021, they have issued over 62,000 grants to Myanmar refugees living in remote villages in the border areas between India and Myanmar. They provide much-needed food for these families, with hundreds of emergency food grants and support thousands through food banks.
