What do we love?
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, and with that comes a vibrant culture, a rich history and diverse landscapes. Over 250 ethnic groups live in Nigeria, speaking over 500 languages. Above all, Nigerians' unwavering sense of pride in their nation and their resilience in the face of challenges inspire admiration and affection.
What are the challenges?
Poverty is widespread in Nigeria, corruption runs at pervasive levels, and security threats are common. Nigeria has one of the highest rates of out-of-school children in the world. Furthermore, tensions have escalated in the north with the rise of Boko Haram, a radical group that targets educational institutions.
What are our partners doing?
We partner with the work of the Hasken Arewa Foundation, especially their work dedicated to sponsoring out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria. Many children there have been harshly impacted by poverty and losing their parents. Our partners work to cover school fees, and provide uniforms, school bags, shoes, blankets, writing materials, and also a daily meal where it is most needed; all working together to help children reach their full potential.
