What we love?

Pakistan loves to celebrate its achievements and wonders – both natural and manmade. It is home to the largest deep sea port, the three highest mountain ranges, the highest paved road, the eighth wonder of the world, the largest volunteer ambulance service, the highest polo ground, the largest earth-filled dam, and it makes over half the world’s footballs. That’s a lot to celebrate.

What are the challenges?                                                     

Despite the achievements that are celebrated, there is a lot of suffering happening, especially for children. Many children, especially in Punjab, lack access to quality education, resulting in either drop outs or increased poverty. Child labour remains a significant issue, healthcare is limited, sanitation is inadequate: all of this results in childhood illness and mortality being higher than is imaginable. Without a good education and start in life, children are at a huge risk of child labour, child marriage or abuse.

What are our partners doing?

We partner with a primary school in Punjab that are making a big difference. With our support, they give salaries to the staff, provide a curriculum and the textbooks, stationery, clean drinking water, meals and other necessities to meet the children’s basic and educational needs. They give food packages to families to ensure they eat well, and ensure children’s hygiene and medical needs are being met. They are helping children get closer to their full potential.
