What do we love?
Albania is at the crossroads of Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, meaning culture thrives with a unique blend of traditions, heritages and influences. The territory of modern-day Albania has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and has been home to various civilisations, including the Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans.
What are the challenges?
Albania is faced with high levels of poverty and unemployment. In Korca, though for many people it is a prosperous area to live, many are trapped in a cycle of poverty and forced to live in settlements without water or electricity. Many children are displaced from their families as a result of imprisonment, abandonment or addiction.
What are our partners doing?
CRY works with the Living Water Project, who aim to provide a loving environment for children who have been displaced from their families. They gather children on Saturday mornings to provide food and teaching, and offer an after school program multiple times a week to aid those who need it. They make food packages for families who need it the most, and even sometimes provide shoes for children.
What can you do?
