What do we love?
We love the emphasis on hospitality that is such a part of Kurdish culture. There is a tradition of welcoming guests with warmth and generosity. Community bonds in many places are therefore strong and a high value is placed on human connection and generosity.
What are the challenges?
Kurdistan has seen decades of conflict, and many, especially families, continue to be impacted. Hundreds of thousands of families have been displaced, having a negative impact on children and their education.
What are our partners doing?
We support Hope for Communities, a project that works to ensure children have a safe place where they can come, learn, meet and play. They have a community centre that supports approximately 100 children at any one time, and supports a further 40 children in children's and care homes. Though the education situation has worsened in recent years, they strive to ensure children are thriving to reach their full potential.
What can you do?
Both prayer and finance will go a long way to supporting this project and the children they are able to help. If you would like to give a donation, regular or one-off, click on the give button, and remember to Gift Aid if you can; it really helps.
