What do we love?
Community ties are strong in Liberia, with its resilient and hospitable people and families often coming together to support one another during both times of need and times of celebration.
What are the challenges?
Liberia faces many challenges; as do the children who live there. Those with special needs are often hurt, abused and killed due to others’ beliefs about their disabilities. Healthcare and education are hard to come by for a lot of children in Liberia, and is widely impossible for those with additional needs to access.
What are our partners doing?
We support Hope for Home Ministries in Liberia, who in turn support some of the country's most vulnerable children. The organisation operates a paediatric clinic that provides free treatment to approximately 1,500 to 2,000 children every month. Additionally, there is a village (His Safe Haven) dedicated to caring for children with additional needs, who are at risk of being killed in Liberia. Our partners rescue these children, provide holistic care and help them build a hopeful future.
As an example, one child called Erica has cerebral palsy, and was found tied to a tree, abused and hurt by villagers. Our partners rescued her, and she is now safe, loved, cared for and recovering, bringing joy to many as she is reaching her full potential.
