What do we love?
Albania is at the crossroads of Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, meaning culture thrives with a unique blend of traditions, heritages and influences. The territory of modern-day Albania has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and has been home to various civilisations, including the Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans.
What are the challenges?
In Albania, especially in Elbasan, there are high levels of poverty and unemployment, meaning that the most vulnerable children are often needing to work or beg. Some children aren’t able to attend school, and often struggle to have sufficient food.
What are our partners doing?
CRY works with the Gate of Hope Centre, set up by the Joshua Mission Christian Fellowship, to meet the need of the children in Elbasan. They provide activities for children in the hopes that they can rejoin school (for some), and improve their mental health, whilst meeting other needs such as basic health care, clothes, and nutritious meals when required. Especially over winter, food packets are a lifeline for children and their families.
What can you do?
Both prayer and finance will go a long way to supporting this project and the children they are able to help. If you would like to give a donation, regular or one-off, click the donate button, and remember to Gift Aid if you can; it really helps.
