Destiny Grace Academy - Sierra Leone

What we love?

Sierra Leone is a beautiful home to many, with many ethnic groups bringing their own traditions, including the Temne, Mende, Limba and others. The musical heritage of Sierra Leone means many traditions are rich with music, dance, and festivals.

What are the challenges?

A large proportion of the Sierra Leone population are living in poverty, meaning diseases are rife. Access to healthcare and education is limited, and the country remains underdeveloped with inadequate houses for many. This means they remain vulnerable to adverse weather fatalities.

What are our partners doing?

We are supporting the Destiny Grace Academy, a Home Leone-run school that reaches and educates children that have relocated from nearby slums. The school began with 92 pupils in September 2019, and had grown to 406 by the beginning of 2024, and now includes some disabled children who have found refuge there. Funding from CRY enables educators, resources, and development.
